About Me

I am a mathematics and science tutor available to come to your home within the Guilford area. I also teach via zoom if in-person tuition occurs outside of this area, or if preferred.

I have been tutoring since 2005. In that time I have tutored hundreds of students studying science and mathematics GCSEs and A-levels at local schools and colleges. I have degrees in biochemistry and statistics and my doctoral thesis was in statistical genetics at UCL. I also have a background in academia at Surrey University working as a medical statistician in psychopharmacology and sleep research, as well as an ongoing role lecturing in statistical methods for MSc nutrition and nutritional medicine students.

I take a calm and understanding approach with an overall structure that ensures the success of the student. I am well practiced at preparing students for exams and am used to helping students identify their problem areas.

I take pride in my ability to inspire my students to not just do well but to actually enjoy and find interest in the subjects they are studying. In many cases, this has opened up the possibility of new career paths.

I have many hobbies that I enjoy with my partner and our daughter including kayaking, skateboarding, snow sports and travel.
